Question Title

* 1. Please share any stories or experiences of being pressured through the “school to guardianship” pipeline:

A note about “pressure.” This may not be the exact or right word to describe your experience. No judgment is intended in or by it. We want to learn about your experience and capture how the process did or did not work (so as to inform ideas for policy change). This pressure could have come from any source (school, providers, etc.) and in any form (lack of information, incorrect information, didn’t understand, time pressure/ deadlines, etc.) Did you feel like you had a choice? Did you understand? Working against unreasonable timeline? Did you think you were doing what you “supposed to do” but later felt different with new/different information? Lack of shared decision making?

Note: we are not asking about reform of guardianship. We would like to learn about how/whether young adults and families are able or not able to access supportive decisionmaking.

* 2. Do you have stories, ideas, tools, successful partnerships that can highlight ways to dismantle the school to guardianship pipeline by slowing down the process, sharing all the right information, promoting collaboration, presenting options and opportunity to meet each individual’s need? Please describe and include links and other relevant information.

For example: Did use of Charting the Lifecourse assist in bringing team together, slowing down process and getting right components of supported decision making in place?

Please detail any specific partners or organizations that assisted. For example: did your state Protection and Advocacy organization give information or counsel?
