We Want to Hear from You!

On May 23, the U.S. Copyright Office proposed an increase in copyright registration fees, which would significantly raise fees by an average of 41%. The Copyright Alliance put together this survey in order to better understand the copyright community’s response to the proposed fee increase so that we can advocate for creators' interests when we file our written comments with the Copyright Office.

We welcome responses from individual creators as well as from organizations/companies that register works they produce, distribute, or publish. Keep in mind that if you are taking this survey as a representative of an organization/company, you should answer each question from the perspective of that company/organization.

The survey should take no more than about 10 – 15 minutes to complete. We will not ask your name or any other identifying information, and we will not share any personal information about you with third parties. The data we collect will only be used in the aggregate to inform the Copyright Office about how its proposed fee increase will affect creators.

Prior to beginning this survey, it may be useful to gather information about your copyright registration practices (e.g., the number of applications you file on average per year, the kinds of works you typically register, and the type of application you normally use).

Thank you for taking the time to participate in our survey. Your feedback is important!
