Gary White continues to oversee our programme and has a well qualified replacement tutor with Gary Sensei supervising progress. They offer the popular ‘Jitsuei Kai’ Karate Club (JKF Goju Kai) at The Cathedral Grammar School. Gary Sensei is a 4th dan karate-ka who has over 26 years of experience in karate training and coaching. The classes focus on fun and teach sound karate technique and etiquette, discipline and respect.  The minimum number of children required for this club is 4 and the maximum number is 20. 

Karate starts on Thursday 4 February and concludes on Thursday 25 March.

Jacqueline Jones MNZAHND (Examiner) will run a class that teaches children the basics of the Highland Fling in a fun and professional way. Minimum of 6 students for class to run

Pupils have the opportunity to play chess with each other and also work towards chess badges.  This club is offered for free, however there is a cost for badges.  There are opportunities to participate in Inter School competitions for some pupils.

Cost: $13 per session - requires a Term 1 and Term 2 commitment.

This term we are offering Drama Club on a Monday but require a Term 1 and Term 2 commitment.   Drama Club involves drama games, speech exercises and rehearsals for an end of term performance of a play.  Learning lines at home is essential and some extra rehearsals may be required. 

Louise Glossop trained at UC, VUW, LAMDA, worked at The Court Theatre, holds an LTCL in Speech and Drama and has directed children's plays for over eight years.  

Maximum number will be between 12 and 15 students. 

Club starts on Monday 1 February and finishes with a performance on Tuesday 7 December in Assembly.

Where:  M1 (Specialist Block)

The skills learnt and experienced during this time tie in with STEM Curriculum.  (Science technology education and Mathematics).  The children will use one of the Lego programmes to explore, create and problem solve.

The maximum number of children for this club is 16 per class.  Priority will be given to existing Robotics club members.

The cost will be approximately $100 for the term.

Classes commence Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 February and will finish on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 March.
