City and Borough of Yakutat and Yakutat Tlingit Tribe Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Survey The City and Borough of Yakutat (CBY) is updating our 2019 Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) and we have invited the Yakutat Tlingit Tribe (YTT) to join in the plan update. We have contracted Fairweather Science, LLC to facilitate and guide the Planning Team through the MJHMP update process. Once completed, the HMP will be submitted to the State of Alaska and FEMA for review and approval, and then adopted by CBY and YTT. Once the adopted plan is approved by FEMA, CBY and YTT will be eligible to apply for grant funding to protect CBY and YTT's assets from natural hazards. For more information about mitigation planning, please see FEMA guidance here: https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/risk-management/hazard-mitigation-planning/regulations-guidanceThe HMP will:1. Describe natural hazards that occur in Yakutat. 2. Identify the assets (people and facilities {infrastructure}) within CBY at risk from natural hazards. 3. Identify and prioritize projects to mitigate the potential damages to infrastructure. The purpose of this plan is to inform our community of the vulnerabilities to natural hazards; better plan development within CBY; and enable CBY and YTT to be eligible to apply for grant funding. Those projects prioritized will be pursued for implementation.Documentation of the planning process and ongoing public participation is a crucial part of this project. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the HMP Planning Team Leader Martha Indreland at planner@yakutatak.us or our contractor, Laura Young at laura.young@fairweather.com Question Title * 1.
