What is the boundary review?
Cornwall Council is carrying out a review of parish council boundaries. This is happening across the county, and every parish council is required to consult with its own residents about whether or not they want theirs changed.

What does Liskeard want to do?
Liskeard Town Council wants to change its boundary with Menheniot, along the north-western part of the parish that would include the settlements of Bolitho Farm, Island Shop, Tencreek Farm, Tencreek Cottage, Cartuther Barton Pope's Mill and Keyes. This would take out about 590 acres of housing and farmland from Menheniot, the equivalent of about 8% of all land in the parish. You can read about their plans here and download a copy of their map here.

How you can help
We would like to ask you some questions about Menheniot and the parish council.  Your parish council is responsible for a range of services such as providing the allotments, maintaining the playing fields at Menheniot and the play equipment at Menheniot and Merrymeet. We also own the community garden at Trelawney Road and the public toilets at East Road. Every year, the council gives out grants worth about £10,000 to voluntary groups in the parish to pay for items such as new sports equipment, helping to maintain the graveyard and keep young children safe at school by trying to find better ways to manage the traffic on East Road. Parish councillors also represent your concerns when you have issue with Cornwall Council or Cormac. We can use your answers to this survey in our replies to Cornwall Council.

Menheniot precept reduced this year
Although the parish council provides a wide range of services, it can only do this with the financial support of its residents. Did you know that your local Menheniot parish tax (the precept) was reduced by 21% this year?

How to learn more
The council’s meetings are always held in public and we encourage people to attend and have their voice heard. If you’ve ever made a planning application, you’ll know we always invite you along to put your case to councillors. You can find out more about what we do by checking our website or following us on Facebook. Or ask a councillor! They all live in the parish. We will make regular postings across the parish to keep you updated with progress on this review.

Who you can speak to
