Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this GAF Earthwatch Student Challenge fellowship you must:
  • Be a current Year 10, 11 or 12 student
  • Attend a Queensland, New South Wales or Victorian state government school
  • Have not participated in a previous Student Challenge expedition
 
Letter of Reference
Your application must include a Letter of Reference from your teacher or principal.


We've provided a guide on how your teacher or principal can complete the Letter of Reference at the end of this page.

Please download this document and email it to your teacher or principal for them to use, and make sure to let them know that you're applying.
 
Your teacher or principal will then need to email their Letter of Reference to Earthwatch at studentchallenge@earthwatch.org.au


Answering the key selection criteria
To apply for a fellowship, you will need to answer the following questions in the spaces provided below:
  1. What interests you about the Earthwatch Student Challenge?
  2. What do you hope to learn from participating in the Student Challenge?
  3. What do you think you can contribute to an Earthwatch expedition?
  4. Earthwatch expeditions require teamwork, often in difficult conditions. What experience do you have of working in a team? What qualities do you think contribute to effective teamwork?
  5. What plans do you have for your future? (e.g., career, study, travel, etc.) How will participating on the Student Challenge help you meet your goals?
  6. What do you think is the most important environmental issue facing Australia? Why?
  7. Tell us about how you will share your experience with your peers, family and friends.
