Parent Ambassador Application 2023

We are seeking 25-30 parents to serve as Parent Ambassadors for 2023. Ambassadors will participate on the front line of our advocacy work including attending hearings, testifying, contacting lawmakers, setting up events and activities, and organizing parents. All expenses for travel conferences and training venues will be covered. We are looking for parents that are committed to advocating for their children and communities, serve in a leadership role at a local program either through policy council or in another area, and have the desire and demonstrated skills to complete the year-long project. We had terrific success with our 2009 - 2022 Parent Ambassadors, and we look forward to a great 2023!

What is the Parent Ambassador program?

The Parent Ambassadors Program is a peer to peer training program for parents. Parent Ambassadors will go through an extensive year long high-quality advocacy training program. The Parent Ambassador program provides child care and mileage stipends to help support participation. Please be aware that at most of our face to face conferences, rooms are shared; this fosters networking among the Ambassadors and helps with our limited budget. (*We follow all COVID protocols at this time, and decisions about in person meetings will be made on a rolling basis as needed.)

We DO NOT provide on-site child care at any of our trainings or events. It is your responsibility to recruit and/or secure a child care provider for each and every face to face training/meeting. Nursing non-mobile infants are welcome. Please consider your child’s growth and your commitment to nursing when applying. Nursing infants (0-12 months) very quickly grow into mobile and active toddlers. The spaces that we meet in are not suitable and safe space for toddlers.

Follow up interviews will be scheduled for a time convenient for the applicant during the week of January 23-27, 2023.

Chosen Ambassadors will immediately begin coming together by conference call on February 20, 2023 to discuss the logistics of the first face to face meeting.
