The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is looking for candidates to serve as founding Deputy Editor for Pediatrics Open Science, a new peer-reviewed open access journal.

The journal will begin publishing in 2024. The journal will publish original open access pediatric research in a timely manner, with an emphasis on clinical and scientific research.

The Deputy Editor will work closely with the Editor in Chief, and together they will be responsible for the journal's overall editorial content and peer-review management, while defining the journal's open access editorial strategy and open access policies. The Deputy Editor will help develop a vision for the journal's global reputation and provide informed content that has an impact on the quality of pediatric patient care.

Appointments are made on the basis of knowledge, expertise, and interest. The AAP treats all nomination materials as confidential. Applications, CVs, and other documents will be kept secure and will not be shared with anyone except designated AAP staff and the editorial leadership.

At the end of this application, you will be asked to upload a written narrative addressing the following:

  1. A concise biography
  2. Previous editorial or publication experience
  3. Understanding of open access
  4. Willingness to devote time to the journal
