What you need to know

The 2022 local trauma-informed conference is open to all members of the Erie County community and will be completely virtual on February 17, 2022.

This year's conference will focus on Pursuing Healing, Justice, and Wellness Together.

The conference planning committee requests that all proposals for Breakout Sessions and Deep Dive Workshops meet one of the following conference goals:
  • Understand how individuals and organizations can play an active role in reducing the impact of trauma and building resilience
  • Identify strategies to create trauma-informed interpersonal, organizational, and/or systemic change
  • Recognize the importance of self-care as the platform for improving wellness and burnout prevention
  • Feel a greater sense of connectedness and hope for the future
ECTIC is particularly interested in sessions that address the limitations or impact of issues for Historically Underrepresented Groups. For example, sessions that mindfully address or bring awareness to the impact of social inequalities in systems that support youth and families, give recognition and responses to social justice issues, systemic racism/ trauma or institutional trauma, or explore strategies to address mental health issues.

Session Topic Areas
  • Recognition of the impact of trauma on wellness (physical, mental, social, etc.)
  • Trauma-informed strategies for supporting individuals impacted by trauma, especially historically underrepresented groups
  • Recognition and response to social justice issues and systemic or institutionalized trauma
  • Advocacy initiatives, implementing policy changes and/or organizational culture development
  • Self-care, resiliency building, and/or post-traumatic growth
  • Leadership, mentorship, and/or supervision strategies that demonstrate trauma-informed principles in action
  • Innovative activities to build connectedness, relationships, engagement, and/or partnerships to buffer the impact of trauma in community and/or professional settings

All presentations should address Historically Underrepresented Groups by raising awareness to the limitations and/ or the impact of social justice or mental health issues. Priority will be given to sessions who address:
  • Timely, relevant, practical, and actionable steps to pursuing healing, justice, and wellness in trauma-informed and resilience-oriented ways.
  • Incorporate engaging educational methods.
  • Provide concrete takeaways and resources and/or demonstrate measurable outcomes.

Breakout sessions will be 75 minutes in duration and are training opportunities in which the presenter(s) lead participants through lecture, exercises and/or skill development in a given domain as the material relates to one of the above stated conference goals.

Deep Dive Workshops will be 90 minutes - 3 hours and are learning opportunities in which the presenter(s) lead participants through lecture, exercises, allow for group participation and offer practice of practical implementation strategies of content learned.

Activities must be utilized via the Zoom platform and presenters will need to take into consideration the appropriateness of the activity given the virtual platform.
