1. Application Instructions and Information

The Pierce County Library System is now accepting applications for Summer Reading 2020 programs

Deadline for Application: November 11, 2019 at 11:59pm
What is the Summer Reading Program?

The Pierce County Library summer reading program encourages reading and provides a variety of programs for our patrons throughout the summer (June-August).  Each year we endeavor to provide a diverse set of programs for individuals of all ages.

Summer Reading Theme

The Pierce County Library System is now accepting presenter applications for the summer of 2020.  The Summer Reading theme next year is "Imagine Your Story."   While programs on this theme are encouraged, not all programs need to follow the theme.

Suggestions for Theme Related Programming
  • Fairy Tales
  • Mythology
  • Fantasy
  • Exploring/Presenting one’s own story
  • True stories about people, places or things

Consider Outcomes for Participants

Most of the programs focus on one or more of the Pierce County Library’s focus areas:  Learning, Enjoyment, and Community.  In the application you will be asked to consider questions like:  What will participants gain by attending this program? How can this be demonstrated at the end of the program?

SAMPLE: Build a Rocket Program
At the end of the program participants will:
  • Design a rocket using a variety of recycled material.
  • Learn about how rockets are used today in space exploration and business.
  • Engage with others in the group to design and build a rocket.
(This is only a sample.)
