Creation of the Navajo Cultural Arts Minor at Diné College

Information:

The School of Diné Studies and Education is gathering community input on the creation of a Navajo Cultural Arts Minor at Diné College.

This minor will provide Diné College students with opportunities to increase the intergenerational transference of knowledge of Navajo artistic and cultural practices in order to sustain Native artistic and cultural heritage within Navajo communities. Students in the Navajo Cultural Arts Minor Program will have the opportunity: (1) to acquire and engage traditional understandings of Navajo cultural arts, (2) demonstrate their techniques to local and regional community members, (3) explore a variety of Native American artisan marketing opportunities, and (4) create multigenerational Navajo artisan community bonds.

The Navajo Cultural Arts Minor is intended for Diné College students from all BA, BFA, and BS programs and is preparing for student enrollment as early as Fall 2021.
