Excellence in Teamwork Award

The Excellence in Teamwork Award recognizes and honors excellence in teamwork by health care workers. The focus of the Excellence in Teamwork Award will be determined annually. In 2022, the Excellence in Teamwork Award will focus on Workforce Strategies. Ensuring a robust and resilient health care workforce and increasing workforce supply through a pipeline of talent is essential to providing optimal health in Kansas.

The Kansas Hospital Association established the Excellence in Teamwork Award in 2022. The award recognizes a team of employees, providers or volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the wellbeing , retention or recruitment of health care workers at their facility(s) or in Kansas.

CRITERIA
KHA members can nominate one team of employees, providers or volunteers from one or multiple facilities.

Eligible team members must be current employees, providers or volunteers of a KHA member. Teams should demonstrate the following characteristics: ability to work productively to define and resolve problems; engage in shared decision-making and collaboration; and foster cooperation and open communication.

In 2022, this award recognizes a team that tackled a workforce-related program, project, strategy or intiative that involves the wellbeing, retention or recruitment of health care workers. the nomination should define how the team innovatively addressed an issue or challenge, and highlight results that demonstrate significant improvement of wellbeing, retention or recruitment of health care workers.

Excellent teamwork on a workforce-related program, project, strategy or initiative must have occurred in the last two years. Work may have been started prior to 2020, but teamwork between 2020 and 2022 needs to be demonstrated in the nomination. 

THE PROCESS
Nominations are submitted online and a photograph of the team is required. All nominated teams will be recognized. A committee of KHA members (not applying for the award) will review nominations. The committee will recommend the statewide award(s) to be given. The committee's recommendation is presented to the Executive Committee of the KHA Board of Directors for approval.

PHOTOGRAPH
A corporate photograph of the team must be emailed to awards@kha-net.org. Photos should be an EPS, JPEG or TIFF file. Color photographs are preferred.

DEADLINE
Nominations will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on June 3. You will receive an email confirmation that KHA has received your nomination. If you do not receive a confirmation by June 10, please contact KHA at (785) 233-7436.

AWARD PRESENTATION AND RECOGNITION
All nominated teams will be recognized in publications and on the KHA website. Selected team(s) will be recognized with the Excellence in Teamwork Award. They will be honored with a portable Excellence in Teamwork display; video showcasing their teamwork; recognition at the KHA Convention, recognition in a statewide media release, and an award reception and presentation at their location.
