1. Introduction

With potential rights deals multiplying and rights holders’ roles in flux, BISG believes that all sectors of our industry can benefit from standardized definitions of rights terminology and from a master list of rights transactions that has been designed to facilitate productive, economical communication between buyers and sellers, including automated communication of rights related data between software systems.

This short, 9-question survey is targeted to people who are likely to be interested in rationalizing rights management with a view toward monetizing and maximizing the value of rights they control.

We will share the results of the survey with all participants and incorporate them in the BISG rights-transactions initiative.

For the purposes of this survey, we will use the term “rights” to refer to all uses of content beyond initial book publication in print-on-paper formats in the U.S., including foreign rights, digital rights, audio rights and all other rights commonly called subrights or permissions.

Thanks in advance for your participation.
