Introduction & Objectives

Arlington County wants your input on the future of transportation in the Rosslyn neighborhood.

BACKGROUND
In 2015 the County Board adopted the Rosslyn Sector Plan that included a set of transportation policies and recommendations. In 2017, the County’s Transportation Division, in partnership with the Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID), began the Core of Rosslyn Transportation Study to technically analyze the transportation elements of the Sector Plan and set forth recommendations and phasing for long-term transportation improvements.

STUDY PURPOSE
This study examines the feasibility and potential impacts of permanent changes to the street network in the core of Rosslyn, with the goals of improving safety and accessibility for all users - those walking, biking, using transit and driving.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Public engagement was held in April 2018 to review existing transportation network conditions in the Rosslyn Core Study Area. We are now in the second phase of public engagement to review the 2030 Baseline transportation network and a Concept 1 alternative. Concept 1 includes the combination of improvements recommended in the Rosslyn Sector Plan, including the two-waying of N Lynn St and Fort Myer Dr.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?
The results of the Concept 1 travel demand forecast models show significant increases in gridlock in the Rosslyn Core Study Area. Concept 1 also introduces conflicts between vehicles, cars, and pedestrians into the network. Arlington County staff will build on the results of the Concept 1 alternative to design a Concept 2 alternative that maintains the vision of the Sector Plan but addresses these congestion and conflict points.

This feedback form will walk you through four (4) key design trade-off points and gather feedback to be considered in the decision-making process for Concept 2 alternative design. Weigh in by Friday, October 19 (deadline extended).
