Through our research, Advancing WE in Policing – Ontario has learned from workshop participants that they have a need for additional, external mentoring platforms. We appreciate that several police organizations may have a formal mentoring program in place. Our purpose is not to replace what is currently in existence, but rather to provide additional options for individuals interested in mentorship external to their organizations. We also would like to provide interested mentors with the opportunity to develop mentor relationships outside of their organization. The ability for mentors to share experiences across police organizations will enhance the people-centered leadership we wish to see in policing. The purpose of this survey is to identify what mentorship programs are in existence as well as to determine the need for the creation of a provincial platform from a senior leadership perspective. We will be sending a similar survey to the membership through their respective police associations.
