CTY's Commitment to Diversity

Diversity is defined broadly to include age, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, language, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation and socio-economic status. In addition we are committed to helping create an environment that is welcoming and respectful of staff and students from all backgrounds. We view the goal of increasing diversity as directly related to creating the best quality academic programs for our students. Our program is dedicated to the world of ideas and that world expands exponentially as those with different experiences and points of view share their knowledge and interpretations with one another. Diversity increases the breadth and depth of a person's education and is crucial to a full understanding of the world around us. A commitment to diversity is recognition of the past and a promise of the future-something owed to students of all backgrounds.

The four areas of focus in the growth and development of a diverse CTY community are:
  1. Recruitment of a diverse candidate pool.
  2. Hiring of a diverse staff.
  3. Creation of a safe and supportive community for our staff and students through education, training, and communication.
  4. Retention of a diverse staff.
