Family Caregivers and the Advanced Aide Role - Survey |
The Eldercare Workforce Alliance (EWA) is working to identify ways in which an “advanced” home health care worker could potentially fill in gaps in care and support individuals, their family caregivers, and other members of the care team. An “Advanced Aide” would be someone who, with additional training and supervision, could provide care that is missing or inefficient. We are hoping to get your perspective as a family caregiver on how an “Advanced Aide” could best be utilized to care for your loved one.
We define the care team as health care professionals (physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, physical therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc…), including direct care workers, and family caregivers. When we talk about direct care workers, we are referring to individuals who provide hands on care such as helping care recipients bathe, dress, eat, and perform other daily tasks. These individuals are often in positions such as Personal Care Attendants, Home Health Aides, Nursing Aides and Attendants, and Home Care Workers. This survey is designed to find out from you, as a family caregiver, how a direct care worker with additional training and supervision may be able to help improve quality of care.
