WA-ACTE Summer Conference 2024
"Connecting Education and Careers"
Hosted by WA-ACTE and Supported by Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction

This year, we are seeking in-person proposals. Sessions will be recorded and made available to all attendees the week following the live conference. Please read this entire document before submitting a proposal(s).

Video Capture of Session:
All sessions will be video captured and become part of the proceedings of the Conference. By submitting this CFP you agree that your session will be video captured and made available to virtual attendees.
NOTE: All CDC guidelines for venue will be followed at the time of conference.

Call for Presentation (CFP) proposal submissions due May 1, 2024

Purpose:
To provide quality professional development for Career and Technical Education professionals, including instructors, administrators and career guidance and school counselors from both secondary and postsecondary CTE programs and institutions.
Focus:
The value of connecting education and career programs to deliver high-quality CTE. Introducing AI in education for teaching, learning and career skills.

Conference Location & Dates:
DAVENPORT GRAND HOTEL, Spokane WA
Sunday, August 4, 2024–Wednesday, August 7, 2024

Hotels: The Davenport Grand and The Centennial by Davenport
Hotel: $127 (single) + taxes (per diem)

Virtual: Session content will be available to all attendees post In-Person conference.

Overall Conference Content Standards:
The committee has identified priority content areas for strengthening the skills of CTE professionals in both secondary and postsecondary programs through this year’s conference.
  • Building a collaborative CTE learning community that strengthens and embeds access and inclusion for all students; (CCDEI)
  • CTE Frameworks and curriculum alignment;
  • CTE Instructional strategies and assessment practices;
  • Content of current or anticipated CTE assignment;
  • Advocacy for CTE students and leadership development;
  • Supervision, mentoring, or coaching for CTE students and programs.
Breakout Session Goals:
The Professional Development committee has identified priority content areas for strengthening the skills of CTE professionals in both secondary and postsecondary programs. Each CFP submission must indicate if the proposed presentation meets the Professional Educators Board criteria for STEM training for clock hour designation. (See Question 6)
· Build confidence among educators to deliver equivalency credit courses by providing opportunity to align and integrate academic standards by focusing on best practices for integration
· Provide quality models of inclusionary practices within the delivery of CTE programs to serve all students
· Impact and use of AI in CTE programs

· Provide project-based instructional strategies to support academic and technical skill attainment for integration in curriculum, framework, and assessments
· Gain understanding of how CTE, STEM, and Arts align with and support delivery of current frameworks through curriculum alignment and best instructional practices
· Expand collaborative connections to enhance current programs through extended leadership, supervision, and mentoring of students through instructional and work-based learning opportunities
· Discover methods to connect classroom instruction to work-based and career-connected learning opportunities for students
· Share model Career Guidance programs to deliver high school and beyond plans that truly provide student support and ownership

Submit a separate CFP form for each topic/session you wish to present and only submit a proposal(s) if you can present at any time during the day on Sunday, August 4 to Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The Professional Development Committee reserves the right to place sessions where they will best fit and to repeat the sessions, so be sure to indicate if you are unwilling or unable to “repeat” your session. Accepted speakers are responsible for ALL conference-related expenses including registration, travel, lodging, and meals not included. Notification about the status of proposals will be provided via email to the lead presenter listed.

All speakers will be required to register for the conference unless they are only presenting their session and not attending any additional sessions.
