Victoria Tech Economic Impact Study |
Welcome to the 2023 economic impact study of the technology sector in Greater Victoria
This study will be used by policy makers, government programs, academic institutions, and other partners to determine what and how they continue to support the tech community.
VIATEC, together with our partners Alacrity, iWIST, UVic Coast Capital Innovation Centre, Capital Investment Network, and Women’s Equity Lab, have developed this study on the economic impact of the technology sector in Greater Victoria.
The information collected in this survey will be used to gain a better understanding of the impact that the technology sector has on the local economy. The results regarding the economic impact of the technology sector in Victoria, which will be shared with you, will allow us to effectively promote and showcase what we, as a sector, contribute to the region. It is also useful to the industry in terms of attracting new talent, potential investors, and the attention of policy makers and the media.
Providing you have the information at hand, it should take between 15 - 35 minutes on average, depending on how much information you are able to provide. You will need information about:
- Your organization's structure,
- Revenues from your Greater Victoria operations for the 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 fiscal years,
- Payroll expenses and municipal taxes,
- Employee counts for 2019 and 2022,
- Changes in work arrangements, and
- Future revenue and employment projections.
If you need to leave the survey and return at a later time (for example, to gather information from other team members), you can do so by closing the survey window and clicking the link again, which will bring you to the page where you left off. You cannot, however, forward the link to others to complete.
VIATEC gives you our assurance that the information you provide will be kept strictly confidential and anonymous. The information and data that you provide will only be released in aggregate form and it will not be possible to link any information or data back to an individual company.
