We invite you to submit a presentation proposal to present at the 2018 East Coast Migrant Stream Forum.

About the Forum: Begun by the North Carolina Community Health Center Association in 1988, the East Coast Migrant Stream Forum offers skills-based training for health professionals working with agricultural workers and other vulnerable populations. The Forum offers training within five major focus areas: (1) clinical, (2) outreach/lay health promotion/community health workers, (3) policy, (4) programmatic/administrative, and (5) research.

Submission Guidelines: Proposals must be applicable to the health of agricultural workers and other vulnerable populations. Presentations should be either 90 minutes or three hours in length and should include a maximum of three presenters. Please highlight how participants will apply the knowledge and skills they learn during your presentation. 

Topics of interest include:
  • Opioid and other substance use disorders
  • Increasing access to care for agricultural workers and their families
  • Chronic disease management, especially diabetes and hypertension
  • Childhood obesity
  • Behavioral health
  • Telehealth
  • Integration of oral health into primary care
  • Occupational health and safety
  • Toxic Stress
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Medical-Legal Partnerships
  • Programs and partnerships that address social determinants of health, including:
    • Food insecurity
    • Housing
    • Transportation
    • Culturally and linguistically appropriate services
    • Employment
Speaker Compensation: Only one presenter per workshop will be compensated. The compensated presenter will receive a waived registration fee, reimbursement for travel-related costs up to $400, and a two-night stay in a standard guest room at the conference hotel. Federal Employees, HRSA/BPHC Cooperative Agreements, and Farmworker Health Network organizations are NOT eligible for compensation or reimbursement.

Proposals are due on Friday, May 18, 2018. Please type your proposal narrative into a separate document and copy/paste your responses into this survey. You will not have the opportunity to save your responses before submitting your proposal.

All presenters must be listed on the submitted proposal form. The individual listed as primary presenter will receive all correspondence and is responsible for sharing information with any co-presenter(s). You will receive notification of acceptance or rejection of your proposal by June 18th.
