This survey is part of Creative Workspaces: A Research Project & Action-led Report for Birmingham commissioned and led by CVAN WM (Contemporary Visual Arts Network West Midlands) and hosted by DASH.
The research is being undertaken by Meaningfully Ltd to better understand creative workspace provision in Birmingham, including availability, accessibility, affordability, sustainability, demand, pressures and future needs.
This survey is intended for organisations, groups, collectives, studio providers, cultural organisations, workspace operators and others involved in providing, managing, hosting or supporting visual arts workspace in Birmingham.
For this research, visual arts includes contemporary artistic practice such as
- Crafts
- Drawing, painting, printmaking & graphic art
- Graffiti and mural art
- Live art and performance
- Moving image
- New media and digital art
- Photography
- Sculpture and installation
- Sound art
- Text-based art & artist’s books
- Socially engaged art and participatory practice, within the above
- Interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary or hybrid practice, including crossover with design, architecture or other creative disciplines
The findings will be used to help inform future work, advocacy and planning around creative workspace provision, with the aim of supporting more responsive, sustainable and accessible provision for artists and the wider visual arts ecology.
The deadline for completing the survey is 5pm on Friday 28th August.
