The Village of Glen Carbon has advanced development of the Parks and Trails Master Plan and has created initial recommendations. As part of the public input process, we would like to solicit your input on these initial recommendations.

A. Install a park sign, which is visible from South Main Street. It should also incorporate the Glen Carbon Elementary School sign.

B. Pave the gravel parking area and stripe parking spaces. Surrounding roadway pavement may need restoration as well.

C. Install plantings to buffer adjacent residence from the park.

D. Remove invasive vegetation along the existing drainage channel and add dry stream bed which can be seen from the walkway.

E. When the main concrete walkway in the park needs replacement, consider using exposed aggregate paving which is consistent with the character of the park.

E. Continue to evaluate and maintain the existing White Oak tree including limiting foot traffic within root zone of the tree.

A. Short Term Solution: Consider developing a renovation plan for the ballfield support amenities (Comfort Stations, Concession Stand and Playground).

B. Long Term Solution: Develop long term plans to replace the field at an alternate location if Village Hall or expansion of the police department requires expansion into the ballfield area. One possible option would be to relocate the field to a future neighborhood park proposed on the west side of the Village.
