The new Create Mode

We have received many suggestions for the next version of IMVU’s Create Mode and we will be adding several of them.

Some others we'd like your help to decide their importance from 1 to 5 stars. That's what this survey is about. First, though, we'd like to know something about you.

Question Title

* 1. How long have you been an IMVU Creator?

Question Title

* 2. How productive is your Content Creation?

Please rate the following features from five stars ("I really need this feature") to one star ("I don't care if this feature is implemented"). Please take your time, as we are going to pay close attention to your answers.

Question Title

* 3. Allow a team of creators to work on a shared set of products.

Allow multiple authorized creators per product and provide a shared location for products under development.

Question Title

* 4. Access to the derivation tree in Create Mode

Allow a creator to discover (or even open) the derivation parent of a product with a single click, and to see a list of all of the products derived from a derivable product.

Question Title

* 5. Actions can stop skeletal or morph animation loops

Allows actions to stop a previous looping animation. As a special case it would allow for definition of triggers which stop animations (without starting another one).

Question Title

* 6. Provide a much larger set of standard body part numbers

Currently body part numbers for uncommon body parts are chosen by the creator, and different creators may make different decisions, resulting in products that are incompatible.

Question Title

* 7. Allow non-IMVU creators to build coop action products

Currently only IMVU can build coop action products.

Question Title

* 8. Personal workspace

Allow the creator to set up a workspace consisting of a room and furniture items. Automatically load that workspace whenever a product is opened for editing or work begins on a new one.

Question Title

* 9. Allow idle actions in clothing products

Currently an avatar’s idle actions can only be changed by selecting a mood or moving the avatar to a seat that contains different idles.

Question Title

* 10. Auto-save

Periodically and automatically save work in progress.

Question Title

* 11. Allow the creator to search for a product (to edit or to serve as a derivation base) directly in Create Mode

Currently creators must know the product ID of a product they want to edit or a product they want to derive from, or must look it up in the catalog.

Question Title

* 12. Build scaler products directly in Create Mode

Currently scaler products can only be built using the debug tab of Create Mode.

Question Title

* 13. Default catalog image

Construct a default catalog image for a product and offer it to the creator at publication time. Creators would still be able to upload their own image.

Question Title

* 14. Copy and Paste

Allow a creator to define one material (or action or ensemble), copy it, and then paste all of the copied values into a second material (and then, if desired, make one or two changes that will distinguish the two).

Question Title

* 15. Allow 1024x512 textures, at least for full-body skins

Currently, textures are limited to 512x256. This is not quite enough to produce high-quality full-body skins.

Question Title

* 16. View Mesh Structure

Allow the creator to see the sub-meshes (and maybe even the polygons) of a mesh, directly in Create Mode.

Question Title

* 17. Particles and avatar actions in attachments

Allow attachments to have built-in particles and avatar actions. Currently such products must be built as clothing items but then they have to have a body part number, which may conflict with other products.

Question Title

* 18. Work on multiple products in the same window

Allow the creator to work on more than one product at a time in the same window (like a table and chairs, or several items from a clothing line).

Question Title

* 19. Allow deletion of inherited meshes (also actions, ensembles and so forth)

When a product is first created it may include meshes which are inherited from its parent product. Deleting one of these will seem to work, but if the product is saved and reloaded, or published and used, the deleted mesh will (incorrectly) return, and often create other effects that are even worse .

Question Title

* 20. Build and sell packages of textures

Allow creators to collect sets of useful textures and sell them through the catalog to other creators.

Question Title

* 21. Derive from a product under development

Currently when developing a product intended primarily as a derivable, the only way to test it as a derivation parent is to publish it first. This feature would allow deriving from it before it is published.

Question Title

* 22. Allow many more body part numbers

IMVU defines ten standard body part numbers. Creators choose numbers for less common body parts like wings or tails. Body parts with numbers greater than 99 can only be added using the back-door debug tab, and numbers greater than about 200 trigger unpredictable behavior.

This limitation on body part numbers increases the chance that two creators will use a specific number in different ways, resulting in products which are not compatible.

Question Title

* 23. If you had to choose only ONE change, which would it be?  (This also helps us know what's important to you)
