Calling all T-girls, Trans Zaddies, Non-binary Babes, PreOps, PostOps, NonOps, Bois, Gurls, Queens, Kings, and gender non-conforming Southerners: The GrapeVine is OPEN!

We are so excited! We wanted all of you to be the first to know and get in on the action. The GrapeVine is a community survey of trans and gender non-conforming communities across the South. Growing up gender non-conforming in the South means finding ways to connect despite isolation. We have always found ways to rebel, scheme, and dream together.

It’s 2 rhythmic knocks on the door. A special symbol. A passcode. Somethin’ heard through The GrapeVine.

Almost 2 years ago, the Transgender Law Center (TLC) and Southerners On New Ground (SONG) set out on a listening tour of the South to learn and build with trans & gender non-conforming activists. We visited some of your towns, we ate together, and we learned so much from you. However, the ground beneath us is constantly shifting. 2017 has been the deadliest year on record for Black and Latina trans women. How are we keeping each other safe in the era of Trump? Whether in the streets or in the courts, the ground beneath us is constantly shifting. We must be ready to shift too. What is happening in your communities?

The Transgender Law Center and Southerners on New Ground center storytelling as crucial to legal and organizing strategies that shift culture and win protections. For more information, please visit transgenderlawcenter.org and southernersonnewground.org.

● The GrapeVine survey was designed for transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming people living, loving, and resisting in the US South.
● The GrapeVine survey is especially for youth, elders, sex workers, folks with disabilities, and formerly and currently incarcerated folks.
● By participating in The GrapeVine, you are submitting your responses for use in our upcoming, “Southern Trans Report.”
