Comment on Public Review Draft GSPs for Bowman, Red Bluff, Los Molinos, and Antelope

The Tehama County Flood Control and Water Conservation District and the Groundwater Commission are pleased to announce the Public Review Draft Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) for the Bowman, Red Bluff, Antelope, and Los Molinos Subbasins are available for public review and comment.

Comments are due November 19, 2021.

In response to a state law enacted in 2014 – the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) – a roadmap for how groundwater will be managed over the next two decades will be finalized this year. The goal is to balance the amount of groundwater pumped with the amount that is replenished each year by nature or humans. Since SGMA's adoption, the District and the Groundwater Commission have been working with subject-matter experts, stakeholders, community members, neighboring groundwater basins, etc. to implement SGMA and develop the Draft GSPs. The final GSPs must be adopted and submitted to the State by January 31, 2022.

Note that the Corning Subbasin Draft GSP is available for comment through a slightly different process. If you wish to submit comments on the Corning Draft GSP, refer to Corning Public Comment Period Handout
