In what ways does teaching factoring into hiring decisions for academic positions? The answer to this question varies widely depending upon discipline, the position, the department, and other factors. This faculty panel aims to present a range of possible answers to this question by drawing on the experiences of CMU faculty from a variety of disciplines. Our panel will consist of several recently-hired CMU faculty members who can speak to their preparation for and experience on the academic job market. Our panel will also include several faculty members who sit on hiring committees. These faculty can share their experiences interviewing and selecting job candidates. The panel will be facilitated as a large question & answer session, where graduate students in the audience are able to ask questions of our faculty panelists.
