Introduction

The Tagaloa scholarships are awarded to Pacific people doing a Masters or Doctorate research that contributes to understanding of Pacific People’s experiences and world views in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate that their studies aim to improve the social, economic, and wellbeing of Pacific through a Pacific-holistic worldview. 

Application Process

Note: The following documents must be certified and uploaded

Masters
  • Your most recent academic transcript
  • Confirmation of enrolment into a Masters programme
  • Letter of Support from your academic supervisor, postgraduate coordinators, or academic advisors
Optional Supporting Information
  • An endorsement letter from a community or family member
Doctorate
  • Your most recent academic transcript
  • Confirmation that you have completed your provisional year in a PhD programme
  • Confirmation that your tertiary institution's Doctoral Committee has approved your full enrolment status in the PhD programme
  • A written reference from your supervisor
Optional Supporting Information
An endorsement letter from a community or family member

You can ask any one of the following people to certify your documents:
  • School principal.
  • Registrar of a tertiary provider.
  • District Court Registrar or Deputy Registrar.
  • Barrister or Solicitor.
  • Justice of the Peace.

Video Submission Requirement

All applicants are required to submit a 5-10 minute video as part of their application.

Please provide a link to your video in the application form. Accepted platforms include YouTube (unlisted), Vimeo, OneDrive, SharePoint, or Google Drive. Applicants are responsible for ensuring the link is accessible for the duration of the assessment process.
