E-Symposium Information

Date: December 13, 2018
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

As “gender” becomes more politicized than ever before, newcomer men have multiple hurdles in their settlement journeys. A lot hinges on their cultural intelligence and ability to navigate various social situations and social relations. Men with cultural gender norms that are very different from Canadian ones may encounter challenges in personal relationships, parenting, finding and retaining employment, continued education and language learning as well as in building community connection.  The E-Symposium presenters will address some of the unique and complex challenges that newcomer men face and will then engage in an interactive, live-recorded discussion to frame best practices and suggest supports for settlement service providers.

This E-Symposium topic will be complemented by a Migration Matters Info Sheet and video in a three-part series supporting newcomer men.
