Open Call for Volunteering in SIGCHI |
The SIGCHI Executive Committee (EC) welcomes volunteers who are interested in working with us. Through this open call, we plan to create a live record of volunteers whom we can match with openings across committee roles on the EC.
There are three options for you to express interest in volunteering for an EC committee role. First, if there are particular tasks or focus areas you are passionate about, such as "website design", "blogging", "SIGCHI videos", "content moderation", "addressing conference safety", etc., we will do the work of connecting you with the right EC members and/or committees.
Second, you might like to join a particular committee. If you indicate this interest below, the chair(s) of the committee(s) you are interested in will get in touch with you about volunteering.
Third, you may be interested in a particular region (city, country, or continent). If you express an interest in promoting and supporting HCI activity in this region of your choice, committee chairs can reach out to you accordingly.
Please describe below what types of roles or activities you would like to volunteer for, and from when to when you would like to be considered. We will keep your details (name and email) in our system only until this end date. EC members will be given access to your contact information so they can reach out and assess whether there is a good match between their needs and your interests.
We encourage you to describe fully your background(s) of relevance, your interest in volunteering, and the amount of time you are able to commit on a weekly basis. On average, these roles may take up 2-3 hours on a weekly basis, and 8-12 hours per month. Please feel free to reach out to sigchi-4all@acm.org if you have any questions.
Please note: Before SIGCHI signs on any volunteers, it must check their status on the ACM Violations Database. By filling out this form, you are confirming that you are okay with this look-up. If the database does produce a positive result, we will inform you so that you are able to withdraw your application should you choose to do so.
