Background information

CPSA is reviewing our Relationships with Industry standard of practice. The current standard states expectations that must be fulfilled when a regulated member considers working with a manufacturer or distributor of healthcare products (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, etc.). The draft update provides more information related to conflicts of interest and accepting teaching aids. Clauses related to research have been removed from this version and will be moved to a future Human Health Research Advice to the Profession document for consistency and ease of access.


The survey will be easiest to respond to after reading the draft standard (e.g., rationale for edits/inclusions, references/citations and glossary terms can be found in the document).

All responses will be reviewed, and a summary of the results will be provided to CPSA Council when considering the revised standard for approval for implementation. However, the identity of all respondents will be kept strictly confidential, and feedback will be anonymous.
