This webinar will feature key presenter Beverly Baligad, J.D, the Director of Student Compliance and Title IX Coordinator at the University of Hawaii – West Oahu as she discusses the new Title IX regulations, investigation procedures, and hearing processes.
The first week of the webinar will be an overview of new provision sections, such as definitions, general process requirements, notifications, etc. For example, with the new definitions, Beverly will go into detail about the complainant and respondent, the five Ps of compliance, and the framework and background of Title IX. She will also be covering the training requirements and hearing procedures.
The second week will focus on topics such as the scope of education programs and the activities to comply with Title IX. In terms of investigating, Beverly will cover the basics such as the type of witnesses you may encounter, how to conduct the investigations, and different interviewing techniques. She will then close the series with topics regarding relevancy and sufficiency when collecting evidence like “hearsay”, conflict of interest, and biases in reporting.
This webinar will be a repeat of the September webinar (held on September 9, 10, 16, & 17). Virtual seating is limited and priority will be for those who did not attend the September webinar sessions.
We are currently coordinating with the University of Guam to offer CEUs.
