THANK YOU HUNTLY! |
The last 12 months have seen more than a quarter of a million passengers use the Northern Connector buses. And more than 233,000 passengers started their journey in Huntly, Taupiri or Ngāruāwahia. More and more people are using the Northern Connector buses and we want to improve the service for you.
We’ve been looking at how to effectively carry more passengers on this service. We know that buses can be very busy, particularly on the early morning services into Hamilton and we appreciate the patience and respect you show while using the sometimes very full buses.
A solution is coming – we’re planning to introduce a double decker bus to the Northern Connector fleet from the middle of this year. 87 seats, with additional space for people standing on the bottom deck means more room than ever before. The bus will be air conditioned, fully accessible for wheelchairs, walkers and prams, and have free Wi-Fi on board.
The height of the bus means we can’t access the main bus stop in town due to the low rail bridge on Main Street. We are considering starting the bus service in Huntly East or Huntly West instead, and creating a new Huntly stop that is easy to be picked up from/dropped off to.
