Request for Interest: Annual & Global

 

The mission of the International Association of Law Schools is to lend a voice to our global community of legal educators.  This has been done with the adoption of the Singapore Declaration on Global Standards and Outcomes of a Legal Education and the Madrid Protocol on the Principles of Evaluation of Legal Education. During the next two years, through our Regional Law Deans’ Fora and Doctrinal Study Groups, we are developing a set of specific recommendations to meet the challenges of an increasingly globalized environment with a new generation of students possessing different skill sets and expectations.

The Association's Global Law Deans' Forum is held every other year. It is in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. This is a better format, allowing participant deans to have the option of attending both meetings together.

The annual meeting and global law deans’ forum are the most important events for our Association. We are always in need of host institutions. Hosting a meeting/forum is a great way to showcase your law faculty, department, as well as programs.  More important, it serves as a memorable venue for law school leaders and faculty to convene in our mission of defining and improving legal scholarship and education by learning from each other.  The IALS is currently accepting proposals from our members to host the 2017 through 2020 IALS Annual Meeting and/or Global Law Deans’ Forum. 

As an international association, IALS meetings/forum have been held on different continents, in many countries, and hosted by all types of institutions and organizations. Meeting/forum planning, out of pocket costs, and management are shared responsibilities between the host and the IALS administration.
