Marijuana Business Daily (MJBizDaily), since 2011 the best-known producer of B2B news and trade shows serving executives and major investors in America's $6 billion cannabis industry, is seeking a Magazine Editor to bridge creative and project management tasks related to publishing monthly issues of Marijuana Business Magazine.

 Day to Day Job Description:
  • Manage a team of editorial professionals to create top notch quality writing in a timeline that you manage.
  • Be an idea generator – for content, for imagery and for how to best serve our executive readership.  Work with editorial team to create a bank of ideas, with side-bar and summary copy considerations for each idea.  
  • Create a calendar of what magazine issues will have what content, assigning the best writer for each piece. Work with the writer as-needed to adjust content, style, organization and length.
  • Sourcing editorial freelancers, enhancing relationships with existing freelancer staff and ensuring their copy is suited for our audience and fits into the appropriate issue.
  • Work with creative to ensure that the front-page cover is relevant and compelling. Manage timelines between sales ad deadlines, graphic designer layout and finishing touches on creative, including photography for the front page.
  • Proof copy as needed.
Required Experience:
  • 5 years as an editor for a business publication or section.
  • Preferred experience in multiple mediums – digital, print, podcasts, video etc.
  • Demonstrable experience editing AP style for content, readability and accuracy.
Skills Needed:
  • Ability to be creative and to manage creatives (writers, freelancers, artists, & designers).
  • Project management skills.
  • Solid understanding of B2B journalism and how it’s different from main-stream business coverage.
