Application Requirements, General Information, and Expectations of STAR Council

The purpose of the Orpheum S.T.A.R Council is to provide students the opportunity to volunteer and gain a knowledge of  The Orpheum and The Halloran Centre and what it takes to operate these facilities while volunteering at various events throughout the year.  Members will be expected to communicate regularly with staff of the Education Department and will also be expected to share information about programs and events at the Orpheum and Halloran Centre with their schools and communities. Being a member of S.T.A.R Council is about volunteering  primarily.
High school students, grades 9-12 are invited to apply. STAR Council members volunteer for the Orpheum Theatre Group events throughout the year and serve as ambassadors for the Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:
Student Ushering
Pre- and post-show event coordination for the Saturday Series

All applications are due August 12, 2019 by 5pm
Applicants may be interviewed by phone before a final selection is made. 

A teacher recommendation letter is required for this application. This recommendation letter should be 2-3 paragraphs of a recommendation from a teacher or mentor from the school the student is wishing to represent. A parent/guardian/caregiver permission statement is also required by the due date. By turning in this permission statement, the parent/guardian/caregiver agrees to understanding the following: 
I understand that by allowing my child to apply for the Orpheum Theatre Group S.T.A.R Council, I am committing to safe transportation for my child to and from these events. I understand that my child will be volunteering for events at The Orpheum and The Halloran Centre. My child will adhere to all deadlines and requirements. 
Please send an email stating that you agree to these guidelines to Lindsay Krosnes at by the application deadline, August 12, 2019 by 5pm. 

All applicants will be notified by August 26, 2019 by 6pm of decisions. 
The first meeting of STAR Council is mandatory and will take place on September 15, 2019 from 2 PM to 4 PM.

STAR Council will meet once a month, the following dates: 9/15/19, 10/20/19, 11/17/19, 12/15/19, 1/5/20, 2/16/20, 3/22/20 and will also volunteer for additional events for the Orpheum Theatre Group throughout the year. At least three additional volunteer events in addition to the mandatory meetings are required to remain an active member of the STAR Council.
