One of Main Street Skowhegan’s strategic goals is to strengthen our capacity to serve as a food and beverage hub for the region. We were recently named one of 22 finalists in the nation for a $50 million Recompete grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. Input from these surveys will be incorporated into the final grant application, due in April, which can provide full funding for these projects.
 
Surplus farm products. Somerset County is home to 450+ farms generating $84 million in market value, including fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, eggs, meat, and poultry. Incubator Kitchen. The Kitchen at 185 is a proposed commercial kitchen incubator on Water Street that would provide production space and programming to support the launch and scaling of food enterprises, such as food trucks, caterers, and producers of consumer-packaged goods.
