Zoning Bylaw

A zoning bylaw tells a property owner what they can and cannot do on their property. The District of Sechelt is creating an updated Zoning Bylaw to better reflect current public expectations and land use planning best practices, and to bring it substantially in line with the Official Community Plan.

Learn more about the zoning bylaw and community consultation on our website.

There are five specific areas of the bylaw we would like to hear from the community on:
1.       Home Businesses
2.      Residential Density (Infill Housing)
3.      Short-term rentals
4.      Agricultural Land Reserve uses
5.      Urban agriculture – chickens, bees, farms stands etc

To help determine what should and should not make up the Sechelt Zoning Bylaw please take one or all five of the surveys.

You can find links to all of them here: Sechelt.ca/zoningbylaw

Short-term rentals

This short survey will help define the regulations in the zoning bylaw only. There may be further discussions and community consultation about a specific short-term rental bylaw for Sechelt at a later date.

A short-term rental is the rental of a residential property on a daily or weekly basis. They provide much needed short-term or tourist accommodation for the benefit of our local economy, but they can also change a neighbourhood feel and cause noise and garbage problems. Thank you for answering the questions in this survey to help us find the right balance for Sechelt.

This anonymous survey has 11 questions. Thank you for your time.
