Welcome to the Maple Sap Business Survey

Purpose:
We are conducting this survey to understand recent developments in the maple sector. This effort will inform how education and research can support further development of the maple and maple sap industry. Thank you for taking 20 minutes to complete this survey.
 
Title of Study: Maple Sap Business Promotion – Maple Sap Producer Survey

Introduction
You are being invited to participate in this research study because you are a maple syrup or sap producer. This study is being conducted by Christopher Lindgren, Forest Business Specialist at the University of Vermont.
 
Study Procedures
If you take part in the study, you will be asked to complete the following online (or print survey). The survey will ask questions about maple sap and syrup production, forest management practices, business practices, and marketing approaches. The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you would like to request a printed hard copy you can contact Dana Ruppert at 802-257-7967x 302 or dana.ruppert@uvm.edu to have a copy mailed to you.
 
Benefits
As a participant in this research study, there is no direct benefit for you. It is hoped that the information gained from the study will help maple sap producers to understand/learn more about production practices, costs and markets to enhance business opportunities.
 
Risks   
We will do our best to protect the information we collect from you during this study. We will not collect any information that will identify you to protect your confidentiality
 
Costs and Compensation
There will be no costs to you. You will not be paid for taking part in this study.
 
Confidentiality
All information collected about you during the course of this study will be stored without any identifiers. No one will be able to match you to your answers.  All mailing or contact information will be maintained in a separate database during the period of survey collection and this information will be discarded once the survey collection phase is completed. Please note that email communication is neither private nor secure. Though we are taking precautions to protect your privacy, you should be aware that information sent through e-mail could be read by a third party.
 
Voluntary Participation/Withdrawal
Taking part in this study is voluntary. You are free to not answer any questions or withdraw at any time. You may choose not to take part.
