Swarovski Waterschool Educator Workshops

ABOUT: The Swarovski Waterschool USA Mississippi River program empowers youth to make tangible, positive impacts on how their community interacts with and makes decisions about the watershed in which they live. Educator workshops are targeted for 5th-8th grade educators (formal and non-formal) who want to teach their students about water and river systems and engage them in a community action project. Teachers attend a one day workshop in order to access funding and resources to bring watershed education and stewardship to their students.

During the workshop, educators will learn how to access bus and substitute teacher funding for water-related field trips and what types of field trips and lessons are supported by the program. An important component of the workshop will focus on developing an outline of how to incorporate these free resources into activities that will work for each educator. Approximately one to two hours of time prior to the workshop will be required to review materials provided in advance to facilitate this planning portion of the workshop.

After the workshop, teachers are expected to participate in a community engagement activity with their students and complete follow-up surveys about how they are implementing the Swarovski Waterschool educational materials.

For participating in the workshop, you also have the option to attend a free canoe excursion on either July 17 or 18 to experience first-hand one of the free activities available to you and your students for participating in this program.
