Hanover Community Survey |
Introduction
Hanover School District has just completed a master plan process that included working with parents, the Board and a consultant team to identify school needs. The district is considering expanding Prairie Heights in order to:
• Enlarge undersized classrooms,
• Bring art, music and preschool conducted in portables inside,
• Address conflicts between lunchroom needs and gym activities,
• And address restrooms, storage, office, kitchen and other needs.

The district is considering a bond election to fund this expansion and other urgent health, safety and ventilation needs at Prairie Heights and at the Junior/Senior High. Since the current bond debt for schools is about to expire, additional bonds in the amount of $10.5 million could be added to address needs without a tax increase.
The district has access to State of Colorado BEST grant funding that can match local funds. Currently, the State match is 71% and the district’s share is 29%. The grants are competitive with other districts, funding is limited, and awards cannot be guaranteed.
The questions that follow are intended to gauge support for addressing needs noted above.
