SEJ Awards seeking judges, back-up judges and screeners.

This year screening for SEJ Awards begins around mid - late June. Screeners have 5-6 weeks to complete screening.

Screeners' goal is to cut enough of the entries to leave a list of 35-40 for judges.

Judging will begin for some categories in late July and all judges should be starting by August 1. Judges' deadline for results is Sept. 10, so you'll have a little over five weeks.

Judges will select up to three place winners and up to three honorable mentions for their category.

The Pulliam Award involves selecting the best piece and one honorable mention from the first-place winners of the SEJ awards. Judging begins Sept 10 or shortly after with a deadline of Oct. 18.

SEJ is looking for 30 judges for nine of SEJ's 10 categories and the Pulliam -- three for each category -- and 18 screeners to work in teams of two. (The book category and the Pulliam Award aren't screened.) Several backup judges are also needed.

Please complete this brief form to tell us whether you want to screen or judge and what categories you are most interested in. If you want to take a pass this year -- or you'd rather leave judging awards as a fond memory, select one of the Take a Pass buttons.
