The South Dakota Department of Education Office of Career & Technical Education invites CTE educators and administrators, school counselors, postsecondary partners, and business/industry professionals to participate in a number of content standards revision work groups this summer.

Each work group will include approximately 20 members, including secondary Career & Technical Education educators, postsecondary faculty, and industry representatives.  Other stakeholders who are interested in the process are also encouraged to apply. Applicants will be selected to ensure broad representation of all demographics on each work group.

Revision work groups will meet virtually in April for an orientation.  The meeting dates will be Tuesday, April 19, 4:00 PM Central/3:00 PM Mountain and Friday, April 22, 10:00 AM Central/9:00 AM Mountain.  Participants need to attend one or the other of those meetings. Work group members will also need to complete online standards reviews during the last two weeks of April.

Revision work groups will conduct their group work on standards via virtual meetings in June: Business Management & Administration June 8-9; Hospitality & Tourism June 1-2; Marketing June 8-9; Transportation June 1-2; and Capstone Courses June 6-7. If needed, follow-up virtual meetings may be held later in the summer.

Teachers, who are not on contract during the work sessions, will be compensated for their time at a rate of $25/hour for up to up to 8 hour per day on the days their work groups meet.   Participants are all expected to be fully available during their assigned times, without distraction, and able to have their cameras and microphones on for active participation.  Business and industry stakeholders may elect to participate in work groups for just the time targeted for their feedback or are welcome to participate for their entire work session.

The deadline to apply for these work groups is March 31, 2022. Applicants will be notified by the Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education in early April about the roles they have been selected for.
