Introduction

Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to participate in an exercise on classifying neuroimaging in cerebral palsy. SCPE agreed on a classification system for neuroimaging in the child with CP in order to allow CP-registers to enter neuroimaging results into the database. The aim of this exercise is to check the applicability of the classification system and to document the agreement in classifying neuroimaging information. Your contribution will help to support a common language for describing neuroimaging in children with cerebral palsy.

This classification system is exemplified and illustrated in the Reference and Training Manual of the SCPE (www.scpenetwork.eu). We kindly ask you to look at the specific chapter on neuroimaging. To access this chapter you will need to register to the SCPE website (which will take you a few seconds). You will then be able to access the SCPE Reference and Training Manual chapter on neuroimaging.

We prepared two different exercises. One is showing images directly with some clinical information and the other is based on medical records describing the imaging result. You can choose either one of them depending on your experience or interest.

There are 20 cases (images or descriptions), which should be classified according to the classification system. It is important to classify at least the main groups (A, B, C, D, E), if feasible, patterns should be further classified at the subgroup level. If there are several patterns, the predominant pattern that is believed most likely to have led to the CP should be classified first.

After looking at the image (or reading the description) you are invited to classify it (box below) and write a comment. The quality of the images and the extent of the descriptions are variable, reflecting the everyday situation. The exercise has to be completed in one session, so please take your time for it.

If you are interested to know how we think the 20 cases should be classified, visit the SCPE website which will present this once the exercise is closed.

Thank you for your cooperation and don`t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
