Coastal flooding solutions have the potential to improve quality of life and create new economic opportunities for South Boston and the Seaport District. The Southie Neighborhood and Seaport District are already vulnerable to coastal flooding, and Boston may see 9 inches of sea level rise in the next 15 years. That may seem small, but it will make this part of Boston five times more likely to flood! The City of Boston Environment Department, in partnership with the BPDA, is working with a design team to identify solutions that can be implemented in critical areas to lessen the risk to our community. As we work with the community and our partners in the region to explore near and long-term options for these areas and others on the waterfront, we want to hear from you.
