N2N Leaf Brigade
|
Mayor Levar Stoney and city professionals have created a new initiative to help keep our city clean and improve public trash and leaf collection services. No longer will fallen leaves clutter city streets for months on end and contribute to clogging city sewer and drainage systems. Bagged leaves and bulk trash will be picked up consistently and reliably, collected every other week year-round on the same rotation with city recycling.
To this end, the city knows that many residents are physically unable to bag their leaves. Thus, Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities' [PRCF] Neighbor-To-Neighbor (N2N) program – in partnership with the Department of Public Works (DPW), community-based organizations, and residents – will utilize volunteers to assist qualifying residents in bagging their leaves.
This service will be offered to residents who have qualified as participants – registered with DPW’s Backdoor Service program (http://richmondgov.com/PublicWorks/forms/SolidWasteBackDoorServiceApplication.pdf) and verified by their physicians as having significant health and/or physical challenges that prevent them from bagging their own leaves.
The Leaf Brigade service is not guaranteed to all applicants. Even if you qualify, you may be placed on a waiting list due to the numbers of applicants. Please complete the application below. As in previous years, residents are responsible for getting their leaves to front of their yards. Thus, the Leaf Brigade's primary focus in on bagging leaves, with minimal raking.
If you are a qualifying resident (either elderly, disabled, and/or having some other health issue verified by your physician) who would like volunteers to bag your leaves, please complete the N2N Leaf Brigade volunteer request application questions below.
