1. Centropa Summer Academy Application for North American participants
Dear North American Educators,
We are pleased to announce Centropa’s 11th Summer Academy (CSA 2017), 4-12 July in Budapest and Belgrade. The preliminary draft of the program is here: http://csa2017.centropa.org/program; the deadline for applying is March 30, 2017.
We will invite up to 45 Europeans, 25 Americans, and 5 South African and Israeli educators. Those teaching in private schools: we ask that your school cover as much of the trip cost as possible and, minimally, your air fare. Total cost, including air fare, will be $3,500. Public schools teachers: we will do our best to find funding for your trip, and ask that you help find funding from your PTA, school, local organizations, or teacher fellowships. All participants must cover rides to/from airports, and meals on free evenings (about four).
Preference will go to teachers who have used Centropa in their classes, and sent us their lessons. If you are new to Centropa, we encourage you to apply and ask you to browse our website, watch one or two of our films, and tell us below how you plan to use our resources in the coming year.

Basic information regarding the CSA:
* We begin in Budapest on 4 July around 12:30. The program ends the evening of 11 July in Budapest, and participants depart on 12 July.
* Travel: Once you are accepted as a participant, we will ask you to look for the least expensive airplane tickets from your hometown to Budapest and from Belgrade to your hometown using the multi-destination option to get the best deals. We recommend using Expedia.
NOTE: If we are reimbursing you for your flights, we can only do so upon receiving the original receipts AND boarding passes, which means we will reimburse you after the CSA.
* Centropa will cover your transportation costs between Budapest and Belgrade.
* If you wish to arrive early or stay longer, please make these arrangements yourself. The CSA website is not completely ready, but the hotel information can be found at http://csa2017.centropa.org/logistics-hotels. We highly recommend you come to Budapest early. It is a beautiful city and well worth the extra time.
* Requirements: a pre-trip assignment and readings, described in the registration form we will send to those accepted.
* Kosher meals/dietary restrictions. Kosher meals are available for those who require them. Due to the higher cost of kosher food and the staff time needed to make sure it is delivered, etc, there will be a daily surcharge. In past years, the surcharge was €20 per day and we are currently looking into what the costs will be this year.
