Marijuana Business Daily (MJBizDaily), the largest and most professional producer of news and trade shows serving executives and major investors in America's $6 billion cannabis industry, is seeking an Events Manager. This is a full-time position reporting directly to Event Operations Director and is based in our Denver office, offering a competitive salary, paid time off, 401(k) and health benefits. The Event Manager is responsible for the organization and execution of an assigned B2B trade show and conference with support from the Event Operations team. (www.mjbizconference.com).  The Event Manager will work in partnership with other members of the team to execute the large, anchor show, MJBizCon each November. 

Day to Day Job Responsibilities:

Trade Show Operations
  • Partner with designated General Contractor to ensure all deliverables for internal show materials are met, including but not limited to show booth, graphics, carpeting, materials, etc.
  • Work with Event Coordinator to develop and prepare the Exhibitor Services Manual and ensure clear communications to all attendee and exhibitor stakeholders
  • Assist in the design of the trade show floor

Conference Operations
  • Partner with an audio-visual production team to ensure all technical needs are met regarding equipment and staging.
  • Manage food and beverage requirements and planning
  • Partner with convention center and key vendor staff to execute all logistics
  • Review meeting space, manage room assignments and determine room sets

General & Onsite Execution
  • Manage and execute the onsite set-up and installation of the Expo Hall and conference areas
  • Acts as a resource for clients, service providers and other staff with regard to guidelines, procedures, and processes
  • Partner with Registration Manager to execute onsite temp staffing and process
  • Partner with Event Coordinator regarding third party housing management
  • Partner with internal Marketing and Editorial departments to ensure all deliverables are met
  • Manage the onsite contract staff and security plan
  • Budget expense management
  • Review supplier bills for accuracy to ensure timely payment
  • Other tasks as assigned

Required Experience:
  • 5-7 years experience in the meeting, event and tradeshow industry

Required Skills:
  • Must be able to manage time and prioritize work effectively, be a team player, work independently, meet stringent deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Possess applicable analytical and problem-solving skills and a high degree of responsibility, initiative and professionalism
  • Must be able to travel to three (3) annual events (includes weekends) with the potential for additional travel during the year (maximum 10% additional travel).
