Public Comment on Revised International Dietitian Education Programs (IDE) Standards

Revisions are proposed for Standard 1 in the International Dietitian Education (IDE) 2017 ACEND Accreditation Standards.  These revisions can be viewed in track changes in the standards documents at www.eatrightpro.org/2017Standards.  ACEND values your comments on these changes.  This survey will remain open until August 15, 2020.  
1.In response to the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)'s decision effective June 1, 2020 to remove the requirement for students in IDE programs to complete 900 of the required 1200 supervised practice hours in the United States, it is suggested that Required Element 1.6b (see below) in the IDE Standards be removed.


1.6.b.       At least 900 of the supervised practice hours must be conducted in a work setting in the United States or its territories, possessions (including the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands) or military bases.

IDE programs will be able to provide all the required supervised practice hours in the program's home country.
