NACNS started collecting national-level data on the clinical nurse specialist in 2014.  We have successfully competed three surveys:  2014, 2016 and 2018.  We are pleased that you are willing to participate in the 2020 CNS Census.

The CNS Census is a survey that allows NACNS to collect crucial data on the demographics, education and practice of clinical nurse specialists, an important Advanced Practice Registered Nurse segment of the nursing profession.

The NACNS 2020 CNS Census will provide information on how nurses with CNS education and experience are contributing to the health care system. The results will be published and NACNS plans to make an infographic available on our website -

This survey is open to all nurses who identify themselves as or who were educated as Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs).  If you are a student, you are welcome to take the CNS Census, this year we were able to tailor the survey to make it easier for you to respond.  NACNS is encouraging all nurses who meet those criteria to complete the survey before September 30 of this year.

Thank you for participating in this crucial effort - and please pass the survey link to any friends and colleagues who are CNSs!
