Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize for an Unpublished Manuscript

The Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize is awarded for an unpublished manuscript by an emerging Queensland poet.

Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) is proud to partner with University of Queensland Press (UQP) to offer editorial development and a publication contract to the Winner of the Prize.

Submit a complete, unpublished poetry collection manuscript between 48–100 pages in length.

Entries open: Monday 3 August – Tuesday 8 September 2026
Entry fees:
  • $50 standard entry fee
  • $40 member/concession entry fee
